FPFK Youth HIV & AIDS phase I project was initiated in the year 2007 and it aimed at preventing unchecked spread of HIV & AIDS by raising awareness of the dangers of the disease and by disseminating the information about HIV transmission and how to protect one-self from getting infected. This was through posters, leaflets, T-shirts and various mass media. The approach was based on the assumption that people would change their sexual behavior if they were informed about the disease. The phase II project intends mainly to focus on activities that translate this knowledge into action among the young people in Nairobi, Coast and Rift valley provinces selecting two counties/districts per province. In Nairobi County the project targets Nairobi West and East districts. In the Coast the project is targeting Kwale and Taita Taveta counties while in the Rift Valley the project targets Nakuru and Nandi Counties which was selected on the basis of HIV prevalence rates.
